Grand Canal
Greenway Closure at Husband Aqueduct

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Grand Canal Greenway that Huband Aqueduct, Ballycowan, Co. Offaly, is closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic with immediate effect.
This closure is necessary for public safety following a structural failure where a section of the aqueduct wall has subsided into the canal. The route will remain closed until further notice to allow for inspections and repairs. Vessel navigation remains unrestricted.

Sperrung des Greenway am Husband-Aquädukt
Waterways Ireland teilt allen Nutzern des Grand Canal Greenway mit, dass das Husband-Aquädukt in Ballycowan, Grafschaft Offaly, mit sofortiger Wirkung für den gesamten Fußgänger- und Fahrzeugverkehr gesperrt ist.
Diese Sperrung ist aus Gründen der öffentlichen Sicherheit erforderlich, nachdem es zu einem strukturellen Versagen gekommen ist, bei dem ein Teil der Aquäduktmauer in den Kanal abgesackt ist. Die Strecke bleibt bis auf Weiteres gesperrt, um Inspektionen und Reparaturen zu ermöglichen. Die Schifffahrt bleibt uneingeschränkt möglich.
