Shannon Navigation (North Shannon)
Operational Disruptions – Locks and Services
Issued: 19 March 2026
Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels navigating the North Shannon of the following updates in relation to previously reported mechanical issues affecting lock operations and services. Waterways Ireland thanks users for their patience while urgent repairs have been undertaken.

- Rooskey Lock. Repaired and is fully operational, and will re-open 20 March.
- Albert Lock. Remains operational; however, due to mechanical issues, delays should be expected.
- Pump-out Facilities:

- Carrick-on-Shannon – Now repaired and operational
- Dromod – Remains out of service
- Drumshanbo – Remains out of service

Repairs are ongoing to restore these services.
Waterways Ireland continues to address all outstanding issues as a matter of priority and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

Waterways Ireland informiert die Kapitäne von Schiffen, die auf dem Nord-Shannon unterwegs sind, über folgende Aktualisierungen in Bezug auf zuvor gemeldete technische Probleme, die den Schleusenbetrieb und die Dienstleistungen beeinträchtigen. Waterways Ireland dankt den Nutzern für ihre Geduld während der Durchführung der dringenden Reparaturarbeiten.

- Rooskey-Schleuse. Repariert und voll funktionsfähig, wird am 20. März wieder geöffnet.
- Albert-Schleuse. Bleibt in Betrieb; aufgrund mechanischer Probleme ist jedoch mit Verzögerungen zu rechnen.
- Pumpanlagen:

- Dromod – Bleibt außer Betrieb

Die Reparaturarbeiten zur Wiederherstellung dieser Dienste dauern an.
Waterways Ireland behandelt weiterhin alle noch offenen Probleme mit höchster Priorität und wird weitere Informationen bereitstellen, sobald diese verfügbar sind.
