Waterways Ireland advises masters of vessels that the planned national public sector strike scheduled for Wednesday, 21 October 2026, has been officially deferred and will not proceed.
Waterways Ireland-operated locks and lifting bridges will therefore operate as normal, subject to any other notified restrictions.
However, Marine Notice No. 114 of 2026 remains in effect, as Tarmonbarry Bridge remains closed due to a fault affecting its lifting mechanism.

Waterways Ireland teilt den Schiffskapitänen mit, dass der für Mittwoch, den 21. Oktober 2026, geplante landesweite Streik im öffentlichen Dienst offiziell verschoben wurde und nicht stattfinden wird.
Die von Waterways Ireland betriebenen Schleusen und Hubbrücken werden daher, vorbehaltlich etwaiger anderer angekündigter Einschränkungen, wie gewohnt in Betrieb sein.
Die Marine Notice Nr. 114 von 2026 bleibt jedoch in Kraft, da die Tarmonbarry-Brücke aufgrund eines Defekts am Hubmechanismus weiterhin gesperrt ist.
