Covid-19 measures

Access to Navigations and availability of services – wef 31 December 2020

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters of vessels and water users of the Shannon Navigation, Shannon-Erne Waterway, Royal Canal, Grand Canal, Barrow Line and Navigation that the following access to navigations and availability of services will be in force from 31 Dec 2020 until further notice:

1. 1. Navigations are open up to 5 kilometres from your home (ROI only), provided you continue to observe social distancing at all times.
   2. All locks on above named navigations are closed.
   3. All Waterways Ireland service blocks are closed.
   4. The Winter Mooring period is in force on the Shannon Navigation and Shannon Erne Waterway.
   5. Stay safe and stay at home in order to protect our health services and save lives.

Canal Towpaths

Our towpaths remain open and accessible for local exercise. We request users of our canal towpaths to limit their use and only use towpaths which are in close vicinity (5km in ROI) of your home. Our request to everyone using our towpaths is:

• • Observe social distancing protocols – keep a distance of at least 2m (6 feet) away from other people;
  • Use the towpaths for brief physical exercise only;
  • Limit use – do not take part in physical activity on towpaths which have the potential for large numbers, where social distancing cannot be observed comfortably;
  • Don’t meet up with other groups;
  • Stay in your family household group;
  • Stay local to your home (5km ROI only);
  • As towpaths in some places can be narrow, when you pass someone, please make sure you use the full width of the towpath, keep moving, and stand aside to allow others to pass, in single file, when necessary;
  • If you can’t avoid passing a moored boat please keep as far away from it as possible and pass quickly by;
  • Be mindful of others and act always with consideration and with respect and observe the leave no trace principles and protect our environment;
  • Observe all health etiquettes when on the towpaths.

We will continually review such measures in light of direction and advice from Government and health professionals and any decisions on service provision will be communicated via the issuance of Marine Notices.

Continual Updates:

Continual updates are provided by both the HSE in Ireland and the Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland regarding the COVID-19 virus. Covid-19 Maßnahmen

Zugang zur Schifffahrt und Verfügbarkeit von Dienstleistungen – wef 31 December 2020

Waterways Ireland möchte alle Schiffsführer und Wasserbenutzer der Shannon Navigation, des Shannon-Erne Waterway, des Royal Canal, des Grand Canal, der Barrow Line und der Navigation darauf hinweisen, dass die folgenden Maßnahmen zum Zugang zu den Schifffahrtswegen und zur Verfügbarkeit von Diensten ab dem 31. Dezember 2020 bis auf Weiteres in Kraft treten werden:

1. 1. Die Schifffahrt ist bis zu einer Entfernung von 5 Kilometern von Ihrem Wohnort geöffnet (nur ROI), vorausgesetzt, Sie halten jederzeit den sozialen Abstand ein.
   2. Alle Schleusen auf den oben genannten Navigationen sind geschlossen.
   3. Alle Serviceblöcke von Waterways Ireland sind geschlossen.
   4. Auf der Shannon Navigation und dem Shannon Erne Waterway ist die Winteranlegezeit in Kraft.
   5. Bleiben Sie sicher und bleiben Sie zu Hause, um unsere Gesundheitsdienste zu schützen und Leben zu retten.

Kanalschlepppfade

Unsere Treidelpfade bleiben offen und zugänglich für lokale Übungen. Wir bitten die Nutzer unserer Kanalschleppwege, ihre Nutzung einzuschränken und nur die Schleppwege zu nutzen, die sich in unmittelbarer Nähe (5 km in ROI) zu Ihrem Wohnort befinden. Unsere Bitte an alle, die unsere Treidelpfade benutzen, ist:

• • Beachten Sie die sozialen Distanzierungsregeln – halten Sie einen Abstand von mindestens 2m zu anderen Personen ein;
  • Nutzen Sie die Treidelpfade nur für kurze körperliche Betätigung;
  • Beschränken Sie die Nutzung – nehmen Sie nicht an körperlichen Aktivitäten auf den Treidelpfaden teil, die das Potenzial für große Menschenmengen haben, wo die soziale Distanzierung nicht bequem eingehalten werden kann;
  • Treffen Sie sich nicht mit anderen Gruppen;
  • Bleiben Sie in Ihrer Familienhaushaltsgruppe;
  • Bleiben Sie in der Nähe Ihres Wohnortes (nur 5km ROI);
  • Da die Treidelpfade an manchen Stellen schmal sein können, achten Sie bitte darauf, dass Sie die volle Breite des Treidelpfades nutzen, wenn Sie jemanden überholen, bleiben Sie in Bewegung und treten Sie zur Seite, um anderen das Überholen zu ermöglichen, wenn nötig im Gänsemarsch;
  • Wenn es sich nicht vermeiden lässt, ein festgemachtes Boot zu überholen, halten Sie bitte so weit wie möglich Abstand und fahren Sie schnell vorbei;
  • Nehmen Sie Rücksicht auf andere und verhalten Sie sich stets rücksichtsvoll und respektvoll und beachten Sie die „Leave no trace“-Prinzipien und schützen Sie unsere Umwelt;
  • Beachten Sie beim Befahren der Treidelpfade alle gesundheitlichen Verhaltensregeln.

Wir werden diese Maßnahmen im Lichte der Anweisungen und Ratschläge der Regierung und der Gesundheitsexperten ständig überprüfen, und alle Entscheidungen über die Bereitstellung von Diensten werden durch die Ausgabe von Marine-Mitteilungen bekannt gegeben.
