Rowing Regatta

Navigation and Mooring Restrictions, Sun 6th August 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Shannon Navigation of navigation and mooring restrictions in Carrick-on-Shannon to facilitate the Rowing Club Regatta on Sunday 6th August 2023.
The Regatta will be held on a 500 metres stretch of water immediately south of the town bridge commencing at 0900hrs and finishing at approx 1800hrs.
Craft wishing to make a through passage will be facilitated every 2 hrs approximately during the regatta.
Masters should note that ONLY vessels of an overall length of 22ft. / 6.8m or less will be permitted on the floating jetties from Wednesday 2nd August to Sunday 6th August 2023.
This is necessary in the interest of marine safety and to facilitate the laying of the competition course.
Vessels berthed from Wednesday 2nd August at 1600hrs will be required to remain in place until racing finishes at approx 1800hrs on Sunday 6th August.
Masters are advised to proceed at slow speed and with due caution and to take note of advice from course marshals when passing through the area.

Carrick-on-Shannon, Ruderregatta
Navigations- und Liegeplatzbeschränkungen, Sonntag, 6. August 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne und Benutzer der Shannon Navigation auf Navigations- und Anlegebeschränkungen in Carrick-on-Shannon hinweisen, um die Regatta des Ruderclubs am Sonntag, den 6. August 2023 zu ermöglichen.
Die Regatta wird auf einem 500 Meter langen Gewässerabschnitt unmittelbar südlich der Stadtbrücke stattfinden. Sie beginnt um 9 Uhr und endet um ca. 18 Uhr.
Boote, die eine Durchfahrt wünschen, werden während der Regatta etwa alle 2 Stunden durchgelassen.
Die Kapitäne sollten beachten, dass NUR Schiffe mit einer Gesamtlänge von 22ft. / 6,8m oder weniger von Mittwoch, den 2. August bis Sonntag, den 6. August 2023 an den Schwimmstegen erlaubt sind.
Dies ist im Interesse der Sicherheit auf dem Wasser und zur Erleichterung der Verlegung des Wettkampfkurses erforderlich.
Schiffe, die ab Mittwoch, dem 2. August um 16.00 Uhr angelegt haben, müssen bis zum Ende der Regatta am Sonntag, dem 6. August um ca. 18.00 Uhr an ihrem Platz bleiben.
Den Kapitänen wird empfohlen, mit langsamer Geschwindigkeit und mit der gebotenen Vorsicht zu fahren und die Hinweise der Streckenposten zu beachten, wenn sie das Gebiet passieren.
Waterways Ireland bedankt sich bei dieser Gelegenheit bei seinen Gästen für ihre Kooperation bei diesen Vorkehrungen.

High Water Levels and fast flow

Athlone to Meelick, Cautionary warning

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that high water levels exist from Athlone to Banagher, the jetty downstream of the lock in Athlone is currently underwater. Fast flows exist from Athlone to Meelick.
Masters of vessels are advised to navigate with additional caution, particularly when proceeding downstream.

Waterways Ireland weist Kapitäne und Bootsbesitzer darauf hin, dass zwischen Athlone und Banagher ein hoher Wasserstand herrscht und die Anlegestelle stromabwärts der Lock in Athlone derzeit unter Wasser steht. Von Athlone bis Meelick herrscht schnelle Strömung.
Den Schiffsführern wird empfohlen, besonders bei der Fahrt stromabwärts besondere Vorsicht walten zu lassen.

Grand Canal – Ballycommon

Temporary Closure – 2.5hrs, 25th July 2023

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Grand Canal of the temporary closure of the canal from Campbell’s Bridge, Ballycommon, (adjacent to Lock 21) to Lock 22, for 2.5 hrs on July 25th, 2023.
This temporary closure is to facilitate the removal of the RTE mast at Ballycommon. The towpath and navigation will be closed from 10.30am to 1pm. There will be an exclusion zone around the work site.

Grand Canal – Ballycommon, Vorübergehende Schließung – 2,5 Stunden, 25. Juli 2023
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Benutzer des Grand Canal über die vorübergehende Schließung des Kanals von Campbell’s Bridge, Ballycommon, (neben Lock 21) bis Lock 22, für 2,5 Stunden am 25. Juli 2023 informieren.
Diese vorübergehende Schließung soll die Entfernung des RTE-Mastes in Ballycommon erleichtern. Der Treidelpfad und die Schifffahrt werden von 10.30 Uhr bis 13.00 Uhr gesperrt sein. Um die Baustelle wird eine Sperrzone eingerichtet.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Shannon Navigation that the IWAI Shannon Boat Rally will be taking place as follows:

- - Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th: Dromod
  - Monday 31st & Tuesday August 1st: Drumsna
  - Wednesday 2nd, Thursday 3rd, & Friday 4th: Lough Key Forest Park
  - Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th: Carrick. (The fleet will be divided between Carrick Boat Club, Butler’s marina and Emerald star in the town.)

  - Mittwoch 2., Donnerstag 3. und Freitag 4: Lough Key Waldpark
  - Samstag 5. und Sonntag 6: Carrick. (Die Flotte wird zwischen dem Carrick Boat Club, Butler’s Marina und Emerald Star in der Stadt aufgeteilt).

Dredging Operations

Waterways Ireland wishes to inform masters of vessels and waterway users on the Erne System that dredging operations will commence on the Kesh River on Tuesday 18th July 2023.
Dredging will occur at two locations along the Kesh River and at the mouth of the river.
Dredging on the two river sections (Central and East) will commence on 18th July and continue until 2nd August 2023. During this time the river will be closed to boating traffic from 0800hrs to 18:00hrs on Mondays to Fridays.
Dredging will commence at the mouth of the Kesh River (West Section) on 3rd August 2023 and will continue until 25th August 2023. The Kesh River navigation will be open during the dredging at the mouth of the river, however boaters should expect delays.

Erne-System, Lower Lough Erne, Kesh Fluss, Ausbaggerungsarbeiten
Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne von Schiffen und die Nutzer von Wasserstraßen im Erne-System darüber informieren, dass am Dienstag, den 18. Juli 2023, Baggerarbeiten im Kesh River beginnen.
Die Baggerarbeiten werden an zwei Stellen entlang des Kesh River und an der Mündung des Flusses durchgeführt.
Die Baggerarbeiten an den beiden Flussabschnitten (Mitte und Osten) werden am 18. Juli beginnen und bis zum 2. August 2023 andauern. Während dieser Zeit wird der Fluss montags bis freitags von 08:00 bis 18:00 Uhr für den Bootsverkehr gesperrt sein.
Die Baggerarbeiten an der Mündung des Kesh (Westabschnitt) beginnen am 3. August 2023 und werden bis zum 25. August 2023 andauern. Die Schifffahrt auf dem Kesh River wird während der Ausbaggerung an der Mündung des Flusses möglich sein, allerdings müssen Bootsfahrer mit Verzögerungen rechnen.
