Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the Killaloe Water Festival will take place both upstream and downstream of the Killaloe – Ballina town bridge and also in the vicinity of the Killaloe Canal from 1900hrs on Fri 4th. to 1800hrs on Sun 6th . Sep 2015.
Masters of vessels are requested to note the advice of marshals when passing through the area and to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the swim element of the above event will take place in Athy on Sat 30 May from 0700hrs until 2100hrs.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this section of the river and heed any instructions issued by the event marshals and in particular to keep a look-out for swimmers in the water.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise owners and masters that due to unforeseen circumstances Portumna Swing Bridge will be closed for essential maintenance from next Monday 10th February until Monday 3rd. March 2014.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.
The new flow gates in the Killaloe Canal are ready and the control panels are fully operational, although the system is not yet officially opened. The opening and closing of the gates are remotely operated by Waterways Ireland staff at Portumna swing bridge. If you want to go through or in the canal you have to use the call button and to speak with the operator. You have to insert a WI smart card and units will be reduced. CCTV cameras beside the gates are showing the whole procedure and the driving through in Portumna on-screen.

Strömungstore im Killaloe Kanal
Dieses Jahr wurden die Strömungstore im Killaloe Kanal gebaut. Die Anlage ist betriebsbereit, aber noch nicht offiziell eröffnet. Die Bedienung erfolgt von einem Mitarbeiter von Waterways Ireland von der Portumna Schwingbrücke aus. Der Bootsfahrer, der die Tore geöffnet haben will, betätigt eine Ruftaste und kann mit dem Mitarbeiter in Portumna sprechen. Für die Durchfahrt ist eine Smart card von Waterways Ireland notwendig, von der Einheiten (units) abgebucht werden. Den ganze Vorgang kann der WI-Mitarbeiter in Portumna visuell mit Hilfe von Videokameras kontrollieren.
