MARINE NOTICE, No.80 of 2014

Lough Ree – Athlone

Coosan Point and Killinure Lough

Aquathon Event Wed 2 July

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the swimming element of an aquathon event will take place in the vicinity of Coosan Point moorings in Killenure Lough, between 1900 and 2000 hours on Wed 2 July 2014.

The 750m course is set out just south of the moorings and is marked by three large orange buoys. Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing the course and to note any advice given by safety boat marshals. New Cycle Path and Pedestrian Way

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users that the towpath between Ashtown Station and Castleknock which had been closed for refurbishment has now re-opened as a new cycle path and pedestrian way.

The Rally intends to visit the following harbours:
Dromineer, Terryglass, Rossmore, Mountshannon and Killaloe.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that navigation restrictions will be in place in Athlone between the Athlone By-pass bridge (M6) and the Athlone Lock, to facilitate the swimming element of this national event.
