Navigation Obstruction

Waterway Ireland has been advised by the Garda that a car has entered the canal at this location and while not blocking the canal completely it is causing a restriction to the navigable width.
Masters are requested to navigate at slow speed and with due caution when passing this obstruction.

MARINE NOTICE, No 59 of 2010

ERNE SYSTEM
ENNISKILLEN – CASTLE ISLAND AREA

Waterway Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Erne System that the channel east of Castle Island has been marked by large red buoys to facilitate water based events from Mon 2 Jun until Fri 1 Aug 2014. Vessels will still be able to navigate safely through.
On specific occasions during this time period, the area will be completely shut off by the addition of inflatable booms and strings of small yellow buoys.
Through traffic, during these times, can by-pass the area by using the channel West of Castle Island and are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when doing so.
Masters should note any advice or instructions given by event organisers when in this section of the navigation.
Public jetties in the vicinity will remain accessible throughout though some minor restrictions may be in place as and when required.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that, over the summer period, water control and boat assistance where possible on the Royal Canal Locks 12 to 17 will be provided as shown below:

SHANNON NAVIGATION

Grand Canal to Banagher
Fin Swimming Event

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Shannon Navigation that a fin swimming event will take place on Sun 8 June between 1230 hrs and 1630 hrs
The event will start at a point approximately 2.5km upstream of Banagher , at the junction of the Shannon and the Grand Canal, and finish in Banagher at the marina slipway.
Swimmers taking part will be accompanied by a safety boat and will be wearing high visibility swim hats.
Masters are requested to navigate at slow speed and with a low wash when passing the area and note any advice from the event safety boats
in the interest of safety.
