National Canoe Polo Club Championships

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the above event will take place on Sat 19th and Sun 20th Jul 2014.
Masters should note that navigation will be restricted through the harbour during the championships and are advised to plan their passage accordingly.

Open Water Swimming Race

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that an open water swimming race will take place from the Bord na Mona railway bridge, approximately 3km upstream of Lanesborough, to Lanesborough bridge on Mon 4th Aug 2014,  commencing at 1330hrs and finishing at 1630hrs.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and note any advice given by race stewards and safety boat crew associated with the event.

Lough Ree – Shannonbridge – Ballinasloe

54th Shannon Boat Rally

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the 54th. Shannon Boat Rally will take place from Sat 26thJul until Sun 3rd Aug 2014.
The rally will transit from Lough Ree to Shannonbridge (31 Jul) and onwards to Ballinasloe (2 Aug) during this period.
Masters should allow extra time for lock passage at Athlone when the Rally is moving south due to the large number of

vessel to be put through the lock.

Open Water Swimming Race

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that an open water swimming race will take place at Hodson Bay, Lough Ree on Sat 19th Jul 2014 between 1000hrs and 1200hrs from the beach area immediately north of Hodson Bay harbour.
Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing this stretch of the navigation and note any advice given by race stewards and safety boat crew.

Lough Ree – Athlone

Coosan Point

Triathlon Swim Training Course.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that a Triathlon Swim Training Course is presently laid out at Coosan Point, Athlone for the summer period.
The 750m course is set out just south of the Waterways Ireland moorings and is marked by three large orange buoys.
The course will be active daily when a Yellow flag is flown from a mast located on the foreshore during the following times:

  • 0800 to 1000hrs
  • 1230 to 1400 hrs
  • 1700 to 2030 hrs

Masters are requested to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when passing the course and to note any advice given by safety boat marshals accompanying swimmers.
