and Revised Lock Operating Schedule

Marine Notice No 105 refers. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that following survey of this section of the navigation greater siltation than expected has been noted.

The navigable channel on the approaches to the lock will now be marked with buoys. As this is a narrower channel than previously available masters are requested not to berth at the lead-in jetty and are advised also to make their approach to the lock in single file.

Please note the following revised times for lock operations which are subject to change.

Thursday 11th August 1pm to 4pm
Saturday 13th August 11am to 2pm
Thursday 18th August 9am to 12pm
Saturday 20th August 10am to1pm
Thursday 25th August 9am to12pm
Saturday 27th August 10am to 1pm
Thursday 1st September 9am to12pm
Saturday 3rd September 10am to 1pm
Thursday 8th September 12pm to 3pm
Saturday 10th September 2pm to 5pm

The lock keeper can be contacted at the following number 087-7972998 only during the hours of operation as shown above when he will be in attendance to operate the lock.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise that this section of the navigation is now open and that the immediate operational schedule for Sarsfield Lock is as follows :

Thursday 18th August 9am to 12pm
Monday 22th August 12pm to 3pm
Thursday 25th August 9am to12pm
Monday 29th August 1pm to 4pm
Thursday 1st September 9am to12pm
Monday 5th September 11am.to 2pm
Thursday 8th September 12pm to 3pm

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users that during the event navigation will be

restricted through the stretch of navigation between Coleraine Town bridge and Sandelford

bridge from 9.00am to 6.00pm from 5th to 13th August inclusive.
Users wishing to travel through the zone should phone in advance to the lockkeeper at the

Cutts on 02870342999 for up to date information.

Longford Marathon

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all Masters and users that in order to facilitate the annual Longford marathon road race on Sun 28 Aug 2016 lifting bridge operations will be restricted accordingly.
The following air draft restrictions will apply to the lifting bridges, which will be closed during the time periods indicated below.

    • Shannon Navigation – Rooskey Bridge (1045 hrs to 1400 hrs)
      The air draft at Roosky Bridge at Ordinary Summer Level is 10ft (3.025m). There is an air draft gauge erected at the bridge on both Upper and Lower approaches. The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 353 (0)71 96 38018 for further information.
    • Shannon Navigation – Tarmonbarry Bridge (1015 hrs to 1215 hrs)
      The air draft at Tarmonbarry at Ordinary Summer Level is 7’9″ (2.35m). The Lock keeper can be contacted during lock opening hours at 00 353 (0)43 3326117 or (0)87 9222020 for further information.
    • Royal Canal – Begnagh Bridge
      The bridge will be closed from 0900hrs to 1015 hrs. The Lock keeper may be contacted on 00 353 (0)87 9151400.

Snorkel Rally.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners that the Clondara Snorkel Rally will take place on Sat 13th. Aug 2016 from 1400hrs to1500hrs between Clondara Bridge and Richmond Harbour.
Navigation will be restricted during this time while there are snorkelers in the water.
Masters are requested to note safety advice from event marshals and to proceed at slow speed and with minimum wash when approaching the area.
