GRAND CANAL

Grand Canal Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal will be closed between locks 33 and 34 until further notice to carry out emergency repairs to a collapsed culvert.

Further information will be published once extent of damage is assessed.

Leitrim Village Slipway

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels on the Shannon-Erne Waterway that the slipway at Leitrim Village will be closed until 25th October 2017.

Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause and thanks its customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Portna Lock Closures

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Marine Notice No. 101 of 2017 is hereby amended.
Portna locks will now be closed for essential maintenance works and lock gate replacement from Mon 2nd October until further notice.

Magho Jetty Temporary Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Magho Jetty on Lower Lough Erne will be closed on 7th October as the FEARmanagh Adventure Race is taking place.

The jetty will be busy and should only be used in an emergency.

There will be a large number of kayakers in the water area surrounding Magho Jetty and masters of vessels should navigate with caution in the area.

Parachute Water Jump Training

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that parachute water jump exercises will take place in Galey Bay on 18-19 October 2017.
Masters and owners of vessels operating in the area are requested to keep clear of the drop zone (see maplet) and comply with requests from safety boats.
