Lifting Bridges Restrictions

Abbott Longford Marathon

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users that, to facilitate the annual Abbott Longford Marathon road race on Sunday, 30 August 2026, lifting bridge operations will be restricted as follows:

Royal Canal – Begnagh Bridge Closed: 07:30 to 10:00 hrs

Shannon Navigation – Tarmonbarry Bridge Closed: 08:45 to 12:00 hrs

• • • Air draft at Ordinary Summer Level: 7’9” (2.35m)
    • Alternative route via the Camlin River is available.
    • Contact: Lock Keeper at +353 (0)43 332 6117

Shannon Navigation – Rooskey Bridge Closed: 09:30 to 12:45 hrs

• • • Air draft at Ordinary Summer Level: 10’0” (3.025m)
    • Air draft gauges are in place on both approaches.
    • Contact: Lock Keeper at +353 (0)71 963 8018

Bridge operations at each location will resume as soon as the final runner has passed. Such closures are rare, and Waterways Ireland greatly appreciates the patience of boaters in supporting this important community event.

Waterways Ireland weist alle Schiffsführer und Nutzer darauf hin, dass zur Durchführung des jährlichen Abbott-Longford-Marathons am Sonntag, dem 30. August 2026, der Betrieb der Hubbrücken wie folgt eingeschränkt wird:

Royal Canal – Begnagh-Brücke gesperrt: 07:30 bis 10:00 Uhr

Shannon-Navigation – Tarmonbarry-Brücke gesperrt: 08:45 bis 12:00 Uhr

• • • Durchfahrtshöhe bei normalem Sommerpegel: 7’9” (2,35 m)
    • Eine Ausweichroute über den Camlin River steht zur Verfügung.
    • Kontakt: Schleusenwärter unter +353 (0)43 332 6117

Shannon-Navigation – Rooskey-Brücke gesperrt: 09:30 bis 12:45 Uhr

• • • Durchfahrtshöhe bei normalem Sommerwasserstand: 10’0” (3,025 m)
    • An beiden Zufahrten sind Durchfahrtshöhenmessgeräte installiert.

Der Brückenbetrieb an beiden Standorten wird wieder aufgenommen, sobald der letzte Läufer die Brücke passiert hat. Solche Sperrungen sind selten, und Waterways Ireland bedankt sich herzlich bei den Bootsfahrern für ihre Geduld und ihre Unterstützung dieser wichtigen Gemeinschaftsveranstaltung.
