Update to Marine Notice 43 of 2018

NAVIGATION RESTRICTIONS

As an update to earlier Marine Notices of 21st May and 1st June Waterways Ireland wishes to notify owners and masters of vessels that due to recent dry weather we are continuing to experience low water levels, including in Grand Canal Dock.

  • The Sea Lock in the Dock has been further sealed to minimise any water losses and will remain closed for the foreseeable future until levels sustainably recover.
  • Waterways Ireland will keep this situation under review, but may re-open the Sea Lock on a short term basis during July/August if there is sufficient demand for boat passage.
  • Any requests for boat passage through the Sea Lock, e.g. to coincide with Newcomen Bridge Lifts, should be made to the Dock Superintendent Mark Clarke (087 258 4713), so Waterways Ireland can have record of these to plan as appropriate.

NAVIGATIONSBESCHRÄNKUNGEN
Als Aktualisierung früherer Meldungen vom 21. Mai und 1. Juni möchte Waterways Ireland die Besitzer und Kapitäne von Schiffen darüber informieren, dass wir aufgrund der jüngsten Trockenheit weiterhin niedrige Wasserstände haben, auch im Grand Canal Dock.
Die Seeschleuse im Dock wurde weiter versiegelt, um eventuelle Wasser-verluste zu minimieren, und wird auf absehbare Zeit geschlossen bleiben, bis sich das Niveau nachhaltig erholt.
Waterways Ireland wird diese Situation weiter beobachten, kann aber die Schleuse im Juli/August kurzfristig wieder öffnen, wenn eine ausreichende Nachfrage nach einer Schiffspassage besteht.
Alle Anträge auf Durchfahrt durch die Seeschleuse, z.B. in Verbindung mit den Newcomen Bridge Lifts, sollten an den Dock Superintendent Mark Clarke (087 258 4713) gerichtet werden, damit Waterways Ireland diese entsprechend planen kann.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Gästen für ihr anhaltendes Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Water Levels

Cautionary Warning

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Royal Canal that due to the recent dry weather conditions and low rainfall the water levels cannot guaranteed, particularly on the summit level.
Masters should proceed with due caution.

Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne und den Nutzern des Royal Canal mitteilen, dass aufgrund der jüngsten trockenen Wetterbedingungen und der geringen Niederschläge die Wasserstände nicht garantiert werden können, insbesondere auf der Gipfel-Ebene. Die Kapitäne sollten mit der gebotenen Vorsicht vorgehen.

MARINE NOTICE, No 50 of 2018

LOWER BANN

Roll out of Smart Card charging at Locks

Masters and users of the Lower Bann are advised that a Smart Card system will be introduced at all locks on the Lower Bann from 01 July 2018. Masters of vessels will be able to use a Smart Card or pay in cash until 01 September 2018.
From 01 September 2018 payment will be by Smart Card only.
The cost of the lock passage on the Lower Bann will cost 1 unit. The lock passage on the Shannon-Erne Waterway will remain at 1 unit. The 10 unit card costs €6.35/£5.55 and the 20 unit card costs €12.70/£11.10.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation in this matter.

Einführung der Chipkarte an den Schleusen
Kapitäne und Benutzer des Lower Bann werden darauf hingewiesen, dass ab dem 01. Juli 2018 an allen Schleusen des Lower Bann ein Chipkartensystem eingeführt wird. Schiffsführer können bis zum 01. September 2018 eine Smart Card verwenden oder bar bezahlen.
Ab dem 01. September 2018 erfolgt die Bezahlung ausschließlich per Smart Card.
Die Kosten für die Schleusendurchfahrt auf dem Unteren Bann betragen 1 Stück. Die Schleusendurchfahrt auf dem Shannon-Erne-Wasserweg bleibt bei 1 Einheit. Die 10er-Karte kostet 6,35 € und die 20er-Karte 12,70 €.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Gästen für die Zusammenarbeit in dieser Angelegenheit.

SHANNON NAVIGATION

Roll out of Smart Card charging at Locks and Bridges

Masters and users of the Shannon Navigation are advised that a Smart Card system will be introduced at all locks on the Shannon Navigation from 01 July 2018. Masters of vessels will be able to use a Smart Card or pay in cash until 01 September 2018.
From 01 September 2018 payment will be by Smart Card only.
Where bridge lifting is required at Tarmonbarry and Rooskey, a combined toll payments for the lock and bridge will be taken at the Lock.
The cost of the lock passage on the Shannon will cost two units from the smart card. The cost of the lock passage on the Lower Bann will cost 1 unit. The lock passage on the Shannon-Erne Waterway will remain at 1 unit. The 10 unit card costs €6.35/£5.55 and the 20 unit card costs €12.70/£11.10.

Opening Times for Sarsfield Lock Limerick

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters of all craft that a seasonal lock keeper has been engaged for Sarsfield Lock, Shannon Navigation, Limerick.
The attached schedule details the times when the lock is operational for navigation purposes.
The lock keeper can also be contacted during the listed operational hours on the mobile phone number, 087 7972998. Outside of operational hours a message can be left on the mobile.
Due to resource limitations only in exceptional circumstances will the lock gates be operated outside of the listed hours of operation.‘
