Lowtown to Shannon Harbour
Operation of Locks
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters of vessels using the Grand Canal from Lowtown to Shannon Harbour that water patrollers will assist with the operation of locks between 9:30am to 6pm, Monday to Sunday, during the boating season.
Safe passage through locks outside these hours will be the responsibility of the master of the vessel, and they must ensure the lock gates are left as found, with the water pressure on the breast gates.

Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne von Schiffen, die den Grand Canal von Lowtown nach Shannon Harbour befahren, darauf hinweisen, dass Wasserschutzpolizisten während der Schifffahrtssaison von Montag bis Sonntag zwischen 9:30 und 18:00 Uhr beim Betrieb der Schleusen behilflich sein werden.
Die sichere Durchfahrt durch die Schleusen außerhalb dieser Zeiten liegt in der Verantwortung des Schiffskapitäns, der dafür sorgen muss, dass die Schleusentore so verlassen werden, wie sie vorgefunden wurden, d. h. mit Wasserdruck auf den Brusttoren.
