Grand Canal and Barrow Line

Low water levels, Cautionary advice

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that low water levels are being experienced on the Grand Canal Main Line and Barrow Line at this time. Levels are currently 300mm down on normal levels.
Masters of vessels are advised to proceed with additional caution and to contact the water patroller for latest advice and assistance.
Waterways Ireland apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Niedrige Wasserstände, Vorsichtshinweis
Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Bootsbesitzer darauf hinweisen, dass auf der Grand Canal Main Line und der Barrow Line derzeit niedrige Wasserstände herrschen. Die Pegelstände liegen derzeit 300 mm unter dem normalen Niveau.
Den Schiffsführern wird empfohlen, mit erhöhter Vorsicht vorzugehen und die Wasserschutzpolizei zu kontaktieren, um aktuelle Hinweise und Unterstützung zu erhalten.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich für die entstandenen Unannehmlich-keiten.

Navigation Closure

Levels C3 & C4 Mespil Road, Dublin

From 21st September 2020

Waterways Ireland wishes to notify navigation users on the Grand Canal in Dublin that Levels C3 & C4 will be closed to navigation from 21st September 2020.
This is due to repair works to Lock C4 at Mespil Road, which are planned to start on this date. No further boat passages in / out of Dublin past these levels will be possible from 21st September for the remainder of the 2020 boating season, and local boat movements through these locks will not be possible until late December.
There will also be restrictions to pedestrian movements in the area of Lock C4 due to the ongoing works.
Waterways Ireland apologise for any inconvenience caused by these works.

Levels C3 & C4 Mespil Road, Dublin ab 21. September 2020
Waterways Ireland möchte die Benutzer der Schifffahrt auf dem Grand Canal in Dublin darüber informieren, dass die Level C3 & C4 ab dem 21. September 2020 für die Schifffahrt gesperrt werden.
Grund dafür sind Reparaturarbeiten an der Schleuse C4 an der Mespil Road, die an diesem Datum beginnen sollen. Ab dem 21. September werden für den Rest der Bootssaison 2020 keine weiteren Bootsdurchfahrten in / aus Dublin über diese Ebenen hinaus möglich sein, und lokale Bootsbewegungen durch diese Schleusen werden erst Ende Dezember möglich sein.
Aufgrund der laufenden Arbeiten wird es auch im Bereich der Schleuse C4 Einschränkungen für Fußgänger geben.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich für die durch diese Arbeiten verursachten Unannehmlichkeiten.

33-34 Level Re-Open

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal between locks 33 and 34 is now re-open to navigation and Marine Notice 110 of 2017 is hereby revoked.

Waterways Ireland thanks their customers for their understanding in this matter.

Main Line Temporary Closure

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that the Grand Canal – Main Line – between Baggot St. and Leeson St. Bridges – will be closed to navigation between10:00hrs to 15:00hrs on 8th March 2016 for the purpose of erecting an inflatable bridge across the canal.

Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their co-operation and regrets any inconvenience caused.

ROWING EVENT, SAT 3rd. OCTOBER 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and users of the Grand Canal that Offaly Rowing Club will be holding a time trial event on Sat 3rd. Oct from 0800hrs until 1600hrs.
The event will be held between Locks 23 and 24 on the Grand Canal at Cappincur, Tullamore.
Navigation will be restricted during the period of the time trials and masters should note any instructions or advice given by the event safety marshals.
