MARINE NOTICE, No. 57 of 2022

Grand Canal, Barrow Line

Temporary Navigation Closure

McCartneys Lock, and the 24th Level Barrow Line

Monday 20th June to Wednesday 22nd June inclusive
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that Lock 24, Barrow Line, Grand Canal will be temporarily closed to navigation for essential maintenance and repairs from 20th June to 22nd June 2022.
Passage on the 24th Level from Rathangan to the 24th Lock and through McCartneys Lock will not be possible during this time.
Waterways Ireland thanks its customers for their understanding in this matter.

McCartneys Lock und die 24. Ebene der Barrow Line, Montag, 20. Juni bis einschließlich Mittwoch, 22. Juni
Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Eigentümer von Schiffen darauf hinweisen, dass die Schleuse 24, Barrow Line, Grand Canal, vom 20. Juni bis 22. Juni 2022 wegen notwendiger Wartungs- und Reparaturarbeiten vorübergehend für die Schifffahrt geschlossen wird.
Die Durchfahrt auf der 24. Ebene von Rathangan bis zur 24. Schleuse und durch die McCartneys Schleuse ist während dieser Zeit nicht möglich.
Waterways Ireland dankt seinen Kunden für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

IWAI Events June & July 2022

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all users of the Royal Canal and Grand Canal of the following IWAI events;

- - Grand Canal – Shannon Harbour Canal Boat Rally – 24/25/26 June 2022
  - Royal Canal – Mullingar Harbour – Float to the Fleadh – 31 July to 07 Aug 2022

Please note, vessels attending these events are required to apply for a Visitors Permit, free of charge, before entering the canal network.
Masters of vessels are requested to proceed at slow speed and note any directions issued in the vicinity of the events.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels on the Naas Branch of the Grand Canal – NCB2– that there will be no boat passages permitted from next Monday 14th February for 6 weeks due to breast gate replacement and associated works.

Geschlossen für die Schifffahrt ab 14. Februar für 6 Wochen
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer auf dem Naas Branch des Grand Canal – NCB2 darauf hinweisen, dass ab dem kommenden Montag, den 14. Februar, für 6 Wochen aufgrund des Austauschs des Schleusentors und der damit verbundenen Arbeiten keine Bootsdurchfahrten möglich sind.

Lock N1 reopening on Monday 18 Oct 2021

Waterways Ireland wishes to notify masters that Lock N1 on the Naas Branch of the Grand Canal will reopen on Monday 18 October 2021.
Repairs to the bridge will be completed by 18 October 2021.

Wiedereröffnung der Schleuse N1 am Montag, 18. Oktober 2021
Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer darüber informieren, dass die Schleuse N1 auf dem Naas Branch des Grand Canal am Montag, den 18. Oktober 2021 wieder geöffnet wird.
Die Reparaturen an der Brücke werden bis zum 18. Oktober 2021 abgeschlossen sein.

Low water levels, Cautionary advice

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that low water levels are being experienced on the Grand Canal Main Line and Barrow Line at this time. Levels are currently 300mm down on normal levels.
Masters of vessels are advised to proceed with additional caution and to contact the water patroller for latest advice and assistance.
Waterways Ireland apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Niedrige Wasserstände, Vorsichtshinweis
Waterways Ireland möchte Kapitäne und Bootsbesitzer darauf hinweisen, dass auf der Grand Canal Main Line und der Barrow Line derzeit niedrige Wasserstände herrschen. Die Pegelstände liegen derzeit 300 mm unter dem normalen Niveau.
Den Schiffsführern wird empfohlen, mit erhöhter Vorsicht vorzugehen und die Wasserschutzpolizei zu kontaktieren, um aktuelle Hinweise und Unterstützung zu erhalten.
Waterways Ireland entschuldigt sich für die entstandenen Unannehmlich-keiten.
