Renewal of permits for vessels

Waterways Ireland wishes to remind all masters and owners of vessels that all canal permits expire on 1st November 2022 and must be renewed. Permits can be renewed online at: . Vessels with no permit as required by Bye Law 6(8) will be removed as operationally convenient. Waterways Ireland wishes to thank their customers for their cooperation in this matter.

Grand Canal, Royal Canal und Barrow Navigation Erneuerung von Schiffszulassungen, Kanalgesetz von 1986 (Bye-Laws) 1988 Waterways Ireland möchte alle Kapitäne und Eigentümer von Schiffen daran erinnern, dass alle Kanalgenehmigungen am 1. November 2022 ablaufen und erneuert werden müssen. Die Genehmigungen können online unter erneuert werden. Schiffe, die keine Genehmigung gemäß Bye Law 6(8) haben, werden entfernt, sobald dies betrieblich sinnvoll ist. Waterways Ireland bedankt sich bei seinen Kunden für ihre Kooperation in dieser Angelegenheit.
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Erne System that site investigation works will be continuing to take place at Devenish Island East Jetty from Monday 17th October to Friday 21th October. Part of the public jetty will be closed to mooring and a works exclusion zone will be in place. See attached sketch illustrating jetty closure and exclusion zone. Erne System, Lower Erne, Devenish Island – Östliche Anlegestelle, Arbeiten zur Untersuchung der Baustelle, 17. bis 21. Oktober 2022 Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Nutzer des Erne Systems darauf hinweisen, dass von Montag, dem 17. Oktober, bis Freitag, dem 21. Oktober, am Devenish Island East Jetty Untersuchungsarbeiten stattfinden werden. Ein Teil der öffentlichen Anlegestelle wird für das Anlegen gesperrt und es wird eine Sperrzone für die Arbeiten eingerichtet. Siehe beigefügte Skizze, die die Schließung der Anlegestelle und die Sperrzone zeigt. Waterways Ireland dankt den Schiffsführern und Wasserstrassenbenutzern für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.

Oktober 2022 Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Nutzer des Erne Systems darauf hinweisen, dass von Dienstag, den 11. Oktober, bis Freitag, den 14. Oktober, an der Devenish Island East Jetty Untersuchungsarbeiten stattfinden werden. Ein Teil der öffentlichen Anlegestelle wird für das Anlegen gesperrt und es wird eine Sperrzone für die Arbeiten eingerichtet. Siehe beigefügte Skizze, die die Schließung der Anlegestelle und die Sperrzone zeigt. Der restliche Teil der Anlegestelle wird in Betrieb sein. Waterways Ireland bedankt sich bei Master of Vessels für ihr Verständnis in dieser Angelegenheit.
Bridge construction and Kildare Co Co Greenway Phase 1
17 October 2022 to 11 October 2023
Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters of Vessels and users of the Grand Canal that Kildare Co Co Greenway Phase 1 will commence on 17 October 2022 and continue until 11 October 2023. There will be limited public access to the towpath on the Southern side of the Grand Canal from Sallins village to Ponsonby Bridge near Ardclough from 17/10/22 to 11/10/23.
Section 1 of the greenway works will take place from Sallins to Devonshire Bridge with the towpath closed from 17/10/2022 to 02/06/23. Section 2 of the greenway works will take place from Devonshire bridge to Ponsonby Bridge with the towpath closed from 19/05/23 to 11/10/23. The greenway works includes a footbridge being constructed over the Grand Canal village at the Waterways Ireland serviced moorings near the primary school in Sallins. The bridge construction works are expected to commence in January 2023 with abutment excavation and construction and then a bridge lift. Ramps will be constructed for access to the bridge on both sides of the canal. Several mooring spaces at the Waterways Ireland serviced mooring jetties will be vacated for the duration of the bridge construction works. The bridge works are expected to be completed by May 2023. All vessels on passage through Sallins from January to May 2023 should proceed with additional caution during the bridge construction works. Further Marine Notices will be issued in due course to provide updates as the works progress. Kildare Co Co Greenway Phase 1
Grand Canal, Sallins, 17. Oktober 2022 bis 11. Oktober 2023 Brückenbau und Kildare Co Co Greenway Phase 1 Waterways Ireland möchte die Schiffsführer und Nutzer des Grand Canal darauf hinweisen, dass die Kildare Co Co Greenway Phase 1 am 17. Oktober 2022 beginnt und bis zum 11. Oktober 2023 andauert. Vom 17.10.22 bis zum 11.10.23 wird der Treidelpfad auf der südlichen Seite des Grand Canal zwischen dem Dorf Sallins und der Ponsonby Bridge bei Ardclough für die Öffentlichkeit nur eingeschränkt zugänglich sein. Abschnitt 1 der Greenway-Arbeiten findet von Sallins bis zur Devonshire Bridge statt, wobei der Treidelpfad vom 17.10.2022 bis zum 02.06.23 gesperrt ist. Abschnitt 2 der Bauarbeiten am Grünweg wird von der Devonshire-Brücke bis zur Ponsonby-Brücke durchgeführt, wobei der Treidelpfad vom 19/05/23 bis zum 11/10/23 gesperrt ist. Im Rahmen der Bauarbeiten wird eine Fußgängerbrücke über den Grand Canal Village an den von Waterways Ireland betriebenen Anlegestellen in der Nähe der Grundschule in Sallins errichtet. Die Bauarbeiten an der Brücke werden voraussichtlich im Januar 2023 mit dem Aushub und dem Bau der Widerlager und dem anschließenden Anheben der Brücke beginnen. Für den Zugang zur Brücke werden auf beiden Seiten des Kanals Rampen gebaut. Mehrere Anlegeplätze an den von Waterways Ireland betreuten Anlegestellen werden für die Dauer der Brückenbauarbeiten geräumt werden. Die Arbeiten an der Brücke werden voraussichtlich im Mai 2023 abgeschlossen sein. Alle Schiffe, die von Januar bis Mai 2023 durch Sallins fahren, sollten während der Bauarbeiten an der Brücke mit besonderer Vorsicht vorgehen. Zu gegebener Zeit werden weitere Marine Notices herausgegeben, um über den Fortgang der Arbeiten zu informieren. Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters that the winter mooring period for public harbours on the above navigations will commence on 1 Nov 2022 and will end on 31 Mar 2023. Masters wishing to avail of Winter Mooring are required to pay the winter mooring fee of €63.50 prior to 1 Nov 2022. Online registration must be made at:- Steps in the Winter Mooring process are:
– Apply online for Winter Mooring at a specific harbour
– Receive email approval / rejection / alternative location of application
– Follow link on approval email when received to pay winter mooring fee online
Masters are reminded that Bye-law 17 – the “5 consecutive days / 7 days in one month rule” – continues to apply for masters not availing of winter mooring. Waterways Ireland will be disconnecting its electricity supply points and water supply at public moorings for the winter period (November – March). Both services will be reinstated prior to the commencement of the 2023 boating season. A further advisory Marine Notice will be issued at that time. Owners should note that vessels are moored in public harbours at the owners risk at all times and may be directed to other harbours as operational exigencies require. Shannon Navigation & Shannon-Erne Wasseweg, Winterliegezeit 2022-2023 Waterways Ireland möchte die Kapitäne darauf hinweisen, dass die Winterliegezeit für öffentliche Häfen auf den oben genannten Navigationen am 1. November 2022 beginnt und am 31. März 2023 endet. Kapitäne, die den Winterliegeplatz in Anspruch nehmen möchten, müssen die Winterliegeplatzgebühr von 63,50 € vor dem 1. November 2022 entrichten. Die Kapitäne werden daran erinnert, dass Bye-law 17 – die Regel „5 aufeinanderfolgende Tage / 7 Tage in einem Monat“ – weiterhin für Kapitäne gilt, die keinen Winterliegeplatz in Anspruch nehmen. Waterways Ireland wird die Strom- und Wasserversorgung an den öffentlichen Anlegestellen im Winter (November bis März) abschalten. Beide Dienste werden vor dem Beginn der Bootssaison 2023 wieder in Betrieb genommen. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wird eine weitere Mitteilung über die Schifffahrt herausgegeben. Eigner sollten beachten, dass Schiffe in öffentlichen Häfen jederzeit auf eigenes Risiko festgemacht werden und je nach betrieblichen Erfordernissen in andere Häfen geleitet werden können.
