GRAND CANAL

SHANNON HARBOUR

SUNKEN VESSEL

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and Owners of vessels that there is a sunken vessel in the main navigational channel immediately West of the 35th Lock Deep Gate, on the Grand Canal at Shannon Harbour.
Passage is not possible at this time. Efforts are being made to remove the vessel at this time and a further Marine Notice will be issued when the channel is clear for navigation.
Any inconvenience to our customers is regretted.

Barrow Line – Rathangan

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise masters and owners of vessels that in order to facilitate the completion of the on-going dredging operation immediately downstream of the 23rd Lock in Rathangan, the re-opening of the Barrow Line Grand Canal will be delayed until Saturday 27th March 2015.
Waterways Ireland regrets any inconvenience that this may cause its customers.

Daingean to Ballycommon

Navigation Restrictions, Sat 28th March 2015

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise all masters and users of the Grand Canal that Offaly Rowing Club will be holding a series of time trials on saturday 28th march from 09.00 hrs. until 16:00 hrs. approx.
The Rowing time trials will be held between Daingean and Ballycommon on the Grand Canal
Navigation will be restricted during the period of the trials.
Masters of Vessels should heed steward’s instructions.

Underwater Obstruction

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and owners of vessels that an underwater obstruction in the Grand Canal at Sallins adjacent to the newly constructed extended mooring berths West of Sallin’s Bridge has been removed.

Marine Notice No 2 of 2015 is now withdrawn.

Waterways Ireland wishes to advise Masters and owners of vessels that there is an underwater obstruction in the Grand Canal at Sallins adjacent to the newly constructed extended mooring berths West of Sallin’s Bridge.
Master’s of vessels should navigate with caution until clear of the obstruction.
Waterways Ireland apologises to its customers for this inconvenience.
